To each their own:
Certain principles in life, each of us have.
Some of us place our studies above all others, forgoing certain privileges of friendship in order to better prepare for the future or for the sake of knowledge.
Some of us idealize the concept of a all-in-one life, where we try to spread ourselves over a variety of enriching activities in order to gain the fullest utility from this one-and-only lifetime (no beef with those of you who believe in reincarnation, but I doubt I'll remember this lifetime when i'm over and done).
But in any case, this isn't going to be making a case of what you should do with your life.
Nor what is the right or the wrong path.
It's just a rhetoric about our choices in life,
And its eventual consequences.
Einstein once said in his third law of physics, that is a law that everything in this universe must follow,
For each Action, there must be an equal and opposite Reaction.
And us, being human beings, and therefore a part of the universe,
each Action we take, past, present or future, will have Reactions in our life.
For those of you who are living your life with fun and carefreeness in mind, <= action
you may find out that the future may not be so kind as to allow you to continue such behaviour <=reaction
But who knows, you may be one of the lucky few who can live off inheritance or rich spouses or rich siblings. In that case, won't you share the wealth with yours truly?
If you're busy studying and trying to make something of yourself <=action
Then it is entirely likely in the future, if you're doing it properly, that it will payoff in slow but steady dividends <=reaction
You could also be part of the unlucky few that has a character flaw that prevents them from moving ahead in the world as they should because of their talent. In that case, don't give up.
Persevere, find another way, ask your friends for help or their advice, get professional advice, read a self help book. Don't ever stop DOING because if you do then it is no one else's fault but your own when you fail because YOU gave up. <=action
You will eventually succeed. <=reaction.
(Plus, there are just too many motivational advertisements and books out there that are so awesome. Have you seen the Michael Jordan one where he goes, "I've failed so many times in my life. And that is why, I succeed". Awesome.)
In any case, how you live your life is up to you.
I'm just the messenger with the words that summed up,
All our actions (or lack of) will have consequences.
And you can bet your bottom dollar on that.
